Our Heritage: The Story of Beacon Trimmings
1983 | The Birth of a Vision
Founders: Satnam Singh Sury & Tarlochan Singh Hyare
In March 1983, during a pivotal era for British manufacturing, Beacon Trimmings was established by partners Satnam Singh Sury and Tarlochan Singh Hyare. Based in the Midlands, the historic hub of the UK textile industry, the mission was clear: to provide garment manufacturers with premium-grade components built to last. Starting with a specialized focus on essential threads and elastics, we quickly earned a reputation for reliability among local tailors and industrial manufacturers.
1998 | A New Generation
The Family Legacy Evolves
Following the retirement of Tarlochan Singh Hyare in August 1998, the business entered a new chapter as a dedicated family enterprise. Jasbir Sury joined the company after graduating with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern business strategy. This period marked a strengthening of our core values, ensuring that the "Beacon" name remained synonymous with personal service and professional excellence.

A Profound Loss
In November 2011, the Beacon Trimmings family faced the sudden and heartbreaking loss of our Director, Jasbir Sury. Jasbir was instrumental in modernising our operations and was a beloved figure within the local business community. His passion for the industry and his commitment to the family legacy remain a guiding light for the company today.
2021 | The End of a Founding Era
Remembering Satnam Singh Sury
In June 2021, we bid a final, respectful farewell to our Co-Founder and Director, Satnam Singh Sury. As the bedrock of the company for nearly four decades, Satnam’s wisdom, work ethic, and kindness shaped the very DNA of Beacon Trimmings. He left behind a business built on integrity and a family committed to carrying his vision forward.
Today & Beyond | Carrying the Torch
Quality Without Compromise
Today, Beacon Trimmings continues to stand as a testament to the founders' original vision. We remain a family-run business, proud of our British manufacturing roots and dedicated to providing the UK garment industry with the same high-quality components that Satnam and Tarlochan first promised back in 1983.
